What are my options regarding the use my baby's cord blood?
As a parent, you have three options:
1. Allow the hospital to discard your baby's cord blood.
2. Donate the cord blood to the public storage system. This blood will be used to help treat an unrelated third party or for research purposes.
3. Privately store your baby's stem cells to use in treating future diseases for your family.

How does my baby’s cord blood get sent to DomaniCell?

Returning your baby’s kit to our lab is a single phone call away. After the cord blood collection, the labor and delivery staff will return the collection kit to you. Simply call the 24-hour customer service number (1-888-8DO-MANI) provided in your kit. An experienced medical courier will arrive at the hospital and transport your child’s cord to DomaniCell.  You will receive an email or telephone confirmation from us as soon as your sample has been received by the lab.

Do the cord blood stem cells have to be kept at room temperature before shipping?
Yes, the cells should be kept at room temperature. DO NOT refrigerate the kit or expose to freezing temperatures or extreme heat. Kits should not be kept in the transportation vehicle to the hospital. We recommend keeping the kit in your home with your pre-packed suitcase for the hospital.

How long will my baby’s cord blood stem cells remain viable in the kit after the collection?
Typically the cells are viable up to 40-hours post collection. To be safe, we request receipt no later than 36 hours after the collection was performed.

What if my newborn’s cord does not make it to DomaniCell on time?
DomaniCell transports all newborn’s cords using an experienced medical courier, Airnet (www.airnet.com). If something should happen and the cord is received damaged or not viable for processing, DomaniCell will refund monies paid immediately.
